Bramalea at 40: A Time to Celebrate and Reflect

Bramalea at 40: A Time to Celebrate and Reflect

In just a few days, Bramalea will open its weeklong celebration of our 40th anniversary! The festivities begin this Sunday, September 14th, with a Grand Social — an afternoon of fellowship, fun, and faith-filled energy. It will be a time to connect, to celebrate, and most importantly, to thank God for the gift of a church family that has become a home and a source of lifelong friendships.

Our building is alive with preparations: the parking lot has been renewed, mementos and tokens are ready, the souvenir book is nearly finished, historic relics have been carefully gathered, guest speakers are confirmed, and the food is being prepared. Truly, it will be a week to remember.

Yet as we pause to celebrate, we must also ask ourselves a deeper question: Are all these preparations enough to express our gratitude to God for His goodness and faithfulness? The answer is found not only in what we do to mark this milestone, but in how we live as disciples of Christ.

God delights in our efforts, but He desires even more that we reflect on our journey. Over the past forty years, what have we truly offered to Him — a part of ourselves, or our whole lives? Have we loved Him as we should? Have we served with the humility and compassion of Jesus?

As part of this anniversary, more than forty members shared their thoughts in Ruby Reflections, answering three simple but profound questions:

  1. What does it mean to be a Bramalean, and what are you most thankful for?

  2. What has brought you joy and fulfillment in serving here at Bramalea?

  3. How do you feel as we celebrate our 40th anniversary?

The responses were heartfelt and moving, each one a testimony of God’s grace at work in our church. Reading them, you can almost picture God’s joyful smile as His people remember, give thanks, and testify to His faithfulness.

This anniversary is not only a celebration of the past — it is also a call to the present and the future. It is a time to reminisce with gratitude, to reflect with humility, to rejoice with hope, and to reestablish in our hearts God’s purpose for Bramalea. May we continue to be a light in this community, proclaiming that we serve a wonderful and faithful God till Jesus comes!

“The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.” — Psalm 126:3
